My First Print (Part 2)

    Printing was the second phase of this project (which I was quite excited about!). I went over to the Fab Lab and had the staff assist me in printing on the school's Bambu 3D printers. I converted my file to stl format so that the printers could print it. While attempting to print these rings, I discovered several discoveries through trial and error. My first misstep was printing my ring on its side, with the incision in the sphere. That turned out to be my second worst attempt because the logo was screwed up due to the way the supports were arranged.


    My second attempt was to 3D print it without supports, with the ring's logo facing upward. This was my worst attempt because my 3D print became spaghettified in the middle of the print. It turns out that most prints require supports if they are not in solid form.My results speak for itself:


    My third effort went out perfectly, however I overestimated the size of the print. This time, I used tree supports, which made it ten times easier to cut off while removing the supports from the ring. The sanding procedure was really simple, and printing the symbol face up resulted in no problems. Hence the photograph below:
